HERE YE HERE YE!

This week’s Enchanted Forest News articles are free for anyone to read on my patreon page!

Don’t know what the Enchanted Forest News articles are? It’s a ‘newspaper’ that takes place in the fictional magical world I’m writing (Middle grade book)! I write 3 new ones every week from the ‘news bulletins’ I put up once a day on my twitter!

The news takes place a few years prior to the books, so if you read the articles there’s tons of plot hints, easter eggs, and characters that you’ll meet or recognize (including our main characters Prince Cedric and Princess Tilda) in the books!

I’m just trying to give a bit of laughter and brief break in all the horrible news we’ve had lately. Read them to your kids if you want! They’re supposed to be fun and funny and at least fairly easy for kids 8 and up to understand! :)

WHAT’S THIS? A NEW AUTHORTUBE VID?! Why yes, yes it is!

Today I’ll be talking about what the WIP (work in progress/ novel) that I’m 3/4th’s finished writing is about and also the challenges I’ve had with it etc! If you can guess the title of the movie clip I put in I’LL BE SUPER DUPER IMPRESSED WITH YOU! Because apparently I’m the only one who saw it!

I’ve just discovered my new favorite painter, Vittorio Reggianini - those smarter than myself probably already know of him as an Italian painter from the 1800s who made satin look even satiny-er than satin. I just cannot get over how much he loved painting women who were NOT. HAVING. A. MAN’S. SHIT.

But there was one hottie that everyone seemed to like, and I can’t blame them…

WRITER CONFESSIONS

Look, I’m going to real talk you here (but when do I not?). Let’s talk about writers and platforms (i.e. tumblr, twitter, youtube, IG, etc). I’ll be writing a longer post on my blog (oh look another platform!) if you want to see my tips and (lengthier) feelings about this.

I don’t use tumblr a lot as a writer.

Why, you ask? Because I’m literally on every platform save snapchat (and that’s mainly because I hate my face. I mean, lookit my icon. D’you see a photo? Exactly). And not only do I have to update every platform constantly (or at least I try), I have to write.

And I have to promote (which I suck at. Oops.).

And I have to write

And I have to edit

And I have a job

And.

And and and and and.

The social media platforms I’m on often require vast amounts of my time–even my writing time. That probably means I should cut back on some. But I won’t. Because I love meeting new writers and readers (and making friends. #lifegoals).

But that’s why you don’t see me posting or re-posting a ton here. For those who follow me here–BLESS YOUR SOULS YOU KIND PEOPLE. For those who found me through my blog or twitter or youtube or my actual books (hahaha) THANK YOU for following me here even though it’s meager. It means a LOT to me.

Trying to balance out work, and writing (which is now my job–whaaaat?), and all of my social media’s is hard–especially since I tend to procrastinate and ESPECIALLY because I’m not always good with time management (I was that teen doing their reports the night before they were due).

So thank you for following me (on anything)!

BE LOUD

The voice of doubt is loud
The voice of ‘what if’ is loud
The voice of fear is loud
The voice of 'why should it be you?’ IS EXTREMELY LOUD

But your book is louder
Your passion is louder
Your persistence is LOUDEST

Don’t give up. BE LOUD.

And if you start to get those thoughts? If the voices above start to get louder than your book and your passion and your persistence then fill your thoughts with a positive future. Don’t think in thoughts of ‘what if’ and ‘why me’. You aren’t any less deserving of your book or your art getting attention than some one else.

Work hard (whatever that means or looks like for you). Write often. Fill your days with your passion so that the negative voices don’t have room to talk. Because you’re busy making your dreams come true. You’re busy doing what needs to be done.

And yes, slow days and in between days feel agonizing and painful and look a lot like ‘never going to make it’. But you will. Persist. When you get another ‘no’ dust off your knees and keep applying. Keep writing. Keep moving forward.

Don’t let those negative voices be louder than your passion.

BE LOUD.
